MAN! The past few days have taken me through a whirlwind of events! My frequent flyer miles are definitely on the up-and-up!
These past few rowdy days began this past Thursday, at about 8am, when Coach Smith told me I had been released from the Bears. Great way to start your work-day, huh? Haha.
Seeing as how I’m an optimist through and through, I decided I’d label myself as being "FUNemployed" and travel down to my hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas, to spend time with the Fam. Our hangout time didn’t last long though, because at about 3pm on Friday my agent, Albert Elias, called and said... “HEY! The Detroit Lions have picked you up off of waivers.”
Shortly after Albert called, my new coach, Coach Schwartz, rang me up and told me to head on over to Detroit. Three quick hours later, at about 6:45 pm, I’m back on a plane headed towards my new home. I think it was about midnight when I finally settled into my hotel room.
After getting only a few hours of sleep, Saturday morning woke me up and pushed me out the door to get a physical, go to meetings, and get my stuff ready for yet another trip - this time to Denver, where we’re taking on the Broncos.
Needless to say...I’ve been on the run.
This is a huge challenge we have coming up with the Broncos. Because this is a game that leads us into a bye-week, we really need to win it so we can have that good taste in our mouths for a couple weeks. As for me, I’m going to spend the next two weeks buckling down and getting into the playbook, so I can learn everything that’s going on. This crash course won’t be easy, but I’m certain I’ll pull it off.
Man! I’m filled with all kinds of emotions - the main one being excitement. I feel beyond blessed that something special is brewing with my new team in the Motor City, just as something special is heating up in my other favorite team’s Windy City.
Even though change is sometimes tough to adjust to, I know this transition is going to be special, because it’s a fresh start, a new beginning, a new chapter in my life and career. I’m incredibly proud to be a part of Lions Nation. They’re a great, up and coming team who’s headed in the right direction, and I’m happy I get a chance to be a part of their bright future...
