WHO DAT!? Maaaan...We’ve got them Saints this week!
The Big Easy is a tough place to play, and I would know that more than most people. Being a part of the NFC South for 3 seasons in Carolina made me too familiar with that Dome. We got this, though.
This will be the Saints first home game of the season, so the team will definitely be charged-up. And, after losing against the Packers, their rowdy fans will probably become a factor on the field, because they’ll be showing how amped they are to see their home team win their first game on their own turf. Fortunately, our team doesn’t let crowd energy challenge us. We thrive on enemy pressure.
Our plan, defensively, is to build off our success from last week and limit the speed at which the Saints come at us. If we can slow down their quick-strike offense by making them grind out each play, our chances of winning will be in our favor. But, as I’m sure you all know, the Saints can put an 80-yard play on you in a heartbeat. With such an unpredictable force coming at you, you can never really know what to expect. But you know what? It’s that element of unpredictability that makes this game so exciting. No matter what a team’s plan may be to fight off their opponent’s strengths, you can never place too must trust in a predetermined approach; because the truth of the matter is that each individual game naturally takes on its own identity. No amount of pregame strategizing can fight off that which you never see coming.
We also need to win the turnover ratio. As I’ve said before, we don’t like to call them “turnovers;” we call them “takeaways,” because the reality of such a play is that we’re, straight-up, taking the ball away from you. If we can play the part of thieves for 4 quarters, I believe you’ll see us come out on top. Fortunately for us, we’re pretty damn good thieves.
So bring it on, Big Easy! It’s time to do work against one of the best teams in the NFC! Bear DOOOOWN!
